Calendar of Events

Support group meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month from January through October. The November/December meeting will be the first Tuesday of December. All meetings are free and open to the public.

We greatly appreciate that St. Luke’s United Methodist Church provides space for our meetings, but FMAH is not affiliated with any church.

Companions are welcome. Please feel free to bring a chair cushion so that you will be comfortable. If you wish, you may bring a snack or something to drink. FMAH reserves the right to substitute alternative speakers if necessary.

Location:
St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer, inside Loop 610. The church is located across from River Oaks, between Buffalo Speedway and Edloe. If you are coming from the West Loop 610, exit Westheimer and go away from the Galleria, towards downtown. St. Luke’s is about 2 miles down Westheimer, on the right. Turn right on Edloe and go to the parking lot entrance.

If you will be arriving from Hwy 59, the Southwest Freeway, exit Buffalo Speedway and go north. Take Buffalo Speedway to Alabama and make a left on Alabama. Go about 1/2 block and turn right into the parking lot for St. Luke’s.

There’s plenty of parking available. Enter through the double doors to the right of the garden. There is usually a volunteer at that entrance who will direct you to our meeting room, Parlor B, room 145. The meeting room is beautiful and the chairs are comfortable.

SPECIAL SATURDAY MEETING!

September: Caregivers and the Patient – Coping with Chronic Illness

William July and his wife, Jamey will speak about coping with chronic illness from both the caregiver's and the patient's point of view. Copies of their book, A Husband, A Wife, and An Illness: Living Life Beyond Chronic Illness will be available. We will NOT be meeting on Tuesday, September 23. Join us September 20, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. For this meeting only, we'll meet upstairs in room R23. Stairs and an elevator are available from the hall outside the Art Gallery. Look for signs directing you.

Every Month: Join Us for Dinner
Want to beat the traffic and have some fun? Join us for dinner. A group of volunteers meets at 4:30 before each meeting at Cleburne Cafeteria. It is located just five minutes from St. Luke’s Methodist Church, on the corner of Edloe and Bissonnett and one block from Channel 13 studios. The Cleburne features home-cooked food and reasonable prices. Dinner is Dutch treat and the Cleburne accepts cash only. You’ll find us in our FMAH tee-shirts, so we’ll be easy to spot. Come enjoy good food, lively conversation, and lots of laughs!
